About the Tzolkin
Harmonic Module of Creation
The Tzolkin is read by starting in the upper left corner. The tone is indicated in each square by the combination of dots and dashes. Dots count as one. Dashes count as five. The solar tribe, or day lord is signified by the archetype pictured on the left of each row. So, for example, the first day’s cosmic energy read from the top left corner is 1 Imix. From there, you make your way down the column. When you reach the bottom, you start at the top of the next column to the right. You will see as you work your way down that the Mayan week of 13 tones proceeds and then repeats 20 times for the whole Tzolkin. So there are 20 Mayan weeks which can be considered small creation cycles within the larger module of creation, the whole 260 day pattern.
The Tzolkin is considered the loom of the Maya, through which creation is woven. There are 13 tones, or vibrations of intent, and 20 solar seals, or archetypes of creational energy. Each day, or kin in Mayan, is a combination of both a tone and a solar seal. In this way, each day is given both a creational vibration and an intent with which to create. We can tune in to the frequencies of these vibrations and get in sync with the cosmic energy guiding all of creation. This is a rhythmic wave that pulses through the natural cycles governing our universe. When attuning to it, instead of a clock or a business calendar, it restores balance and integrity to the spirit. It gives us a lens through which to engage our higher mind, our truer heart, and our most capable hands.
The Maya used the Tzolkin as a personal spiritual calendar. It is 260 days long, about the equivalent of a baby’s gestation in the womb.

I looked up my seal,(monkey) and tone,(4) which is for 9-26-47 at 2am as my birthday. I do not know how to use that info on a daily basis to help me to become more “in tune” with the flow of creation. Do I simply use the daily energy description as shown on the Tzolkin? I am just confused on how to fit in to the flow on a day to day event.Please help me and forgive me for being a little slow at learning. Thank you..Harry

I invite you to use the daily energy of the Tzolkin to get in sync or stay in tune with the flow of creation. Your birth signature can be used as a guide for understanding yourself and helping to unlock your own mysteries on this earth-walk. Does that help?

Thank you for the reply and help. I will check the daily energy of the Tzolkin, but perhaps there is a way to incorporate my birth signature as well? That is where I have need of some additional help. I am still reading and rereading Carl Calleman’s book “The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness”. My hope is that I will figure out just what to do so that I can begin to resonate with the flow of creation which will help me to be more in tune and with peace of mind. I like the way Ian Lungold explained it like the axel of a gyroscope which becomes more stable as the outer areas spin faster somewhat like the chaos that we are experiencing in the current time period. I am somewhat at peace now but really enjoy and feel that the Mayan approach is very convincing to my intuition. Feel free to keep in contact.

Thank you for sharing Ian Lungold’s description. I like that. Learning to be the still point amidst the chaos can be as easy as imagining that you are a boulder in the riverbed. The water just flows around and over you. Just breathe into your center. Breath through your heart when life’s chaos is threatening to overwhelm you and imagine that you are this big rock. Just breathe and be still and when you feel at peace you can consciously choose which thing you will respond to and how.
How did you calculate your birth signature? When I plug in 9.26.47 into Calleman’s codex, your birth signature comes out as 5 Eb (one tone and one tribe past what you got). This fits with the challenge you describe as tone 5 is all about realizing that you are the center of your own universe and empowering your essence self. Eb is known as Yellow Road in Calleman’s books. Spilsbury & Bryner’s coaching in the Mayan Oracle for Eb people is to find what gives you joy and fulfillment and nurture/nourish your self by doing that. You might really enjoy using The Mayan Oracle and doing your own readings with the cards as well.

Thank you for the info on the Mayan sign and tone for my birthday. I had read on another site that if the time of birth is in the early morning hours (3am), then use the day earlier. So I calculated the 9-25-47 date. Have you ever read that or should I stay with the 9-26-47? I would like to be sure because everything will sync with the date I use in my future. Have wonderful holidays ahead with good health and well being in all things.
I haven’t heard that. That message may be coming from an astrological point of view, in which there’s a day or two of “cusp” energy, but though it’s in the early hours my feeling is it’s still the day you’re born. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to read more in depth about each of the two day signs and tones and then listen inside yourself to see which one resonates the most–not in terms of which one you’d like to be true, but which one honestly fills you up, inspires you, calls you forward?
